Glass Lantern

GLASS LANTERN
Winner of 2014 Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence

This latest iteration of structural glass design provides the purest form possible within the limits of current material fabrication. Clear glazed single panel walls with no connections to distract the eye, 10m long by 3m high on four sides, provide an efficient structural form capable of resisting seismic loads, while providing total transparency and architectural purity.

AC2 THEATER ROOF
Believed to be the largest freestanding carbon fiber roof ever installed

The circular roof is made up of 44 identical radial CFRP panels averaging 70 feet long and 11 feet wide, and each connects to a small central hub positioned in the middle. Designed by U.K.-based architect firm Foster + Partners, the cylinder-shaped AC2 theater lobby can be seen at ground level and doesn't have any columns. Instead, the space is open, encased by glass and will have stairs down to the event hall.

Consists of 150 advanced composite panels, with a diameter of 42 meters

PCT’s Largest Built Dome to date was successfully installed in Angola in less than four weeks and approximately another four weeks for touch-up works. The main contractor and PCT’s direct client is the Portuguese construction company Teixeira Duarte. The dome manufacturing duration was estimated between 16 to 20 weeks. All the prefabricated panels were shipped to Luanda and assembled in record time averaging 130-150m2 of watertight dome cladding (or six panels) per day.

MEDINAH STATION CONCOURSE ROOF
The Medinah Station roof is built in a unique design of umbrellas with green tiling giving it a remarkable and eye-catching appearance.

The concourse roof design consists of a highly repetitive pattern that is made up of 41 panels that fit together to make one large square module 27 x 27 metres. Each panel is required to be structurally lightweight, fire resistant, immune to extreme temperatures and weather conditions, and easy to install.

EMIRATES PALACE
Emirates Palace is an architectural wonder and an international landmark in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Grand Atrium dome, the largest dome, is 42m wide with a surface finish of silver and gold coloured glass mosaic tiles; a gold finial adorns its apex. The domes are built as self-supportive structures out of an advanced composite sandwich of glass fiber and epoxy resin with thermoplastic honeycomb core. This ensures the dome is durable and most importantly lightweight – composite domes offer weight savings of up to 85% of concrete alternatives.
